Started the trail at the lower trailhead with virtually no snow on the trail. Just prior to the junction of the upper trail, we put on microspikes and needed them all the way to the summit. It was a sunny, beautiful, warm day and my partner was a large man - he did a lot of postholing through the stairway area and up. I was luckier and only postholed a couple of times. Coming down the snow was very soft and mushy. Snowshoes were not required and those who brought them ended up carrying them instead of using them. Fabulous views on a beautiful sunny day, make this trip worth every single step!
