The Upper Big Creek Trail is in excellent condition, many thanks to the Mt. Rose Trail Crew!
The Mt. Ellinor Trail has seen some work, with changes in boulder stairs and several recent log steps added. However, I'm not sure some of the changes, particularly log steps, will be safe in wet conditions.
Gorgeous weather, no bugs. A lot of hikers on the Ellinor trail, but it didn't feel crowded. The Big Creek trail had only a handful of hikers. This trip was originally scheduled as a Mountaineers hike, but I had to cancel it due to lack of participants after several cancellations. So I did it solo, and it was quite a nice, pleasant day out. Logged 13 miles rt & 4,982' elevation gain. 7 hours/50 minutes car to car.
