Mount Baker Recreation Area (Easton Glacier)

Basic Experience Climb, May 31, 2015. Dirt until about 5,600 ft. on RR grade. Both snow and dirt campsites at 5,800 ft. Communal running water from healthy creek beneath snow pit. With 6 new climbers it took 8 hrs. to summit and 4 to return to camp. Estimated 40 crevasse crossings, nearly all step overs. Route headed to crater then split with one branch continuing the line directly up while the other branch traversed to Roman Wall. Traffic split between the 2. We traversed to Roman wall. Good cramponing until snow softened in afternoon. We left at 4:00 AM. Suggest an starting a couple hours earlier.
