10 student paddlers and experienced paddlers left Boston Harbor in Olympia on an weak ebb tide for Hope Island. The 10-12 knot winds never materialized and all students were strong paddlers. Our route was Boston Harbor to Cooper Point, crossing to the shore S of Hunter Point and following the shore N around to the development across from the island. We crossed with a mild ferry angle. With less that a 1 knot ebb we got to the Island in under 2 hours. We waited until low tide -3 so that we could visit the reef on the way back. We followed the same route back on a building flood, except for crossing above cooper point and going straight to Boston Harbor. Higher winds would have caused us to go via cooper point. Rescue practice off of Boston Harbor.
