Trip Report

Highchair Mountain & Bootjack Mountain

After cancellations to proposed 8/9/14 scramble made it a non-Mountaineers event, did a solo trip over the route on that date.
Continue N when Trail #1565 veers E towards a buttress of the N ridge. Pick up a climbers' path on the E side of the ridge and follow it to the easy T3 summit of Bootjack.
From there, follow the ridge SW and WSW on the Ben Creek (left) side of the ridge to the 6140' low point. From there, follow a bearing of 248 degrees TN through sparse trees, past a polywog tarn ("The Oasis") at 0.2 miles and 6165' and a tiny stream at 0.4 miles and 6275' to the base of the summit block at 6500'. From there, it's an easy scramble to the top on climbers' left. Return the same way.
Time: 12:40 car-to-car, with 1:10 on two summits.
