Happy Lake Ridge–Olympic Hot Springs Loop

Marginal forecast yielded cool temps but amazingly little rain. Due to the past dry summer the water level at Happy Lake was ~5 feet below the normal shoreline. For parties doing the cross country excursion to Lizard Head Peak a traverse at ~5000' on its south side until SW of the summit is suggested to avoid scrub trees and rock scrambling on the narrow ridge crest W of the summit. An all too short soak in Olympic Hot Springs was greatly appreciated. For future trips consider staging a car at the Olympic Hot Springs trailhead before leaving from the unmarked Happy Lake trailhead to avoid a ~1.5 mile road walk. Photos of the trip can be seen at:
