Day Hike - Wilds of Queen Anne

A post-Thanksgiving urban hill walk on a beautiful day

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • No downed trees. No streams to cross. The only hazards were crossing busy streets!

After several days of weather alerts forecasting winter storms, eight of us lucked out with a beautiful dry morning walk exploring the "wilds of Queen Anne hill."   As we hit the various parks, playfields, and p-patch gardens, we saw each side of the hill - Lake Union, Cascade Mountains, Gasworks Park, Fremont, Elliott Bay, Magnolia, Olympic Mountains, the Space Needle, and downtown Seattle. There was even enough visibility to see a hint of Mt Baker. We covered about 8 1/2 miles in a leisurely four hours. We stopped and took photos at view points, read gravestones and memorials at Mt Pleasant Cemetary, and tried to guess sale prices of the various Homes for Sale. It was a great start to the rest of the holiday weekend.
