Day Hike - Mud Mountain Dam Rim & River Trails
As of April 25, 2026 the trail has been wiped out by winter flooding. The washout is about .25 miles from the point where the river trail descends from the rim to the river. Heavy bushwhacking and log scrambling would be needed to bypass the washout.

The rim trail remains in good condition and is an excellent easy hike for beginners, friends, kids, dogs, and families.
The river trail no longer goes to Scatter Creek because winter flooding covered the track with thousands of logs. It's an incredible site for those of us used to following the river to Scatter Creek. To see the area covered with so much debris from winter flooding reveals the incredible natural power of the river and the impact of the flood control measures in place to protect the dam downstream.
