Trip Report

Day Hike - Little Si & Boulder Garden Loop

Hiking season is underway so why not reach out and thank a volunteer.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • It was a beautiful day to be out on the trail with The Mountaineers, and our 6.5-mile hike up Mt. Si (including the Boulder Garden Loop) delivered both scenery and great company. With about 1,800 feet of elevation gain, the route offered just enough challenge to keep things interesting while still being accessible in the early spring.

One thing that often goes unnoticed—especially by those new to the club—is that our leaders are volunteers. Every trip like this is made possible by people who give their time, energy, and experience simply because they love being outdoors and sharing it with others. This hike was a great reminder of how much that matters, and it felt like the perfect opportunity to say thank you.

For me, the day also brought a sense of nostalgia. I used to hike the old Mt. Si trail back in high school with my hiking group, so being back in the Mt. Si area brought back a lot of memories—just with a few more switchbacks and a little more appreciation for the journey now.

Between the forested paths, the unique rock formations of the Boulder Garden Loop, and the camaraderie of the group, it was one of those outings that captures exactly why volunteering and participating in these trips is so meaningful. Grateful for the leaders, the group, and the chance to revisit a familiar place with fresh perspective.

A final thank you to all of the volunteers who make these experiences possible—you are truly appreciated.
