Day Hike - Lake Wilderness Park

Fun trip along the mostly flat Green to Cedars trail to Lake Wilderness, visiting a labrynth, the Arboretum and the Gnome trail

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Trail in good condition, some mud.  Many recent blowdowns on the Gnome trail, but they were cleared for walking on the trail.

Parked in the back lot of a restaurant, so no parking passes needed.  Saw lots of types of waterfowl on Lake Wilderness, may have been interesting to bring binoculars to see them more clearly.

Virtually no elevation gain.

At the labyrinth people were given

lw3.jpglw1.jpglw2.jpg time and space to walk it, meditate, contemplate...whatever spoke to their heart and soul at the time.  The Placard emphasizes Peace in many languages.

The Lake Wilderness Arboretum, although not much in bloom this time of year has many interesting gardens, including a children's storybook trail and Indigenous life trail with very informative signage.

The gnome trail was replete with many cute gnomes and other woodland figures, with surprises around every corner.

Another unexpected treat was the tunnels (on the trail) that we walked through that were beautifully decorated with forest scenes/critters, courtesy of the Maple Valley Paint by Tunnels community project.
