Day Hike - Lake Wilderness Park

Walk the Green to Cedar River Trail in Maple Valley to visit a labyrinth, the Lake Wilderness Arboretum and the Gnome trail

  • Easy
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 6.3 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 582 ft
  • Pace: 2.0

From the parking lot, we will access the Green to Cedar trail.  This is a wide multi-use trail.  Here is the route:  https://www.gaiagps.com/public/gRg2Sn5DoyMrFqRz7bOv2cZb/

We will head south and stop at the labyrinth at St. George Episcopal church, where there will be the opportunity for a brief time for meditation.  Continuing on to Lake Wilderness Arboretum to walk through the Alpine Rock Garden and other display gardens.  The trail then skirts Lake Wilderness and at the end of the lake we will connect to the Gnome trail and look for woodland creatures hidden in the trees (you may bring something to add if you like).  We will then return to the parking lot.

We will hike at a moderate to relaxed pace, with plenty of opportunities to take photos and admire the scenery.

Please bring the 10 essentials, dress in layers and plenty of water. Trail is likely to be muddy in places, so please wear sturdy hiking footwear.

For safety we will all hike as a group so please assess beforehand whether this distance/elevation gain/pace will suit you before registering.

My style:  I consider hiking as nature therapy and love to revel in the beauty of nature with frequent stops to look at flowers, trees and views.    If these sound like experiences you would enjoy, I’d love your company!

Meet in the back parking lot of Stockton's Restaurant in Maple Valley at 10am.  https://maps.app.goo.gl/iPpn8Zi6JprmsjXn9

No parking pass is needed.

There is a McDonalds across the street if you need a bathroom prior to the hike.
