The trail is in good condition. There is a very large fallen tree (shown in the 17 April WTA trip report) near the waterfall bridge with sufficient clearance to pass under. There is another fallen tree after the very large fallen tree with very low clearance to pass under. The trail has been significantly improved with last year's trail maintenance and new construction. New steps, bridges, and the has been trail widened in certain sections. The upper trail, after the switchbacks, still has construction materials on and to the sides of the trail. There is a worn path in the snow around the lake to follow. However, the snow bridges over the rocks and near the boardwalk are melting so post-holing is inevitable.
The group arrived shortly after 9:00AM to a 90% full parking lot. There was a large group of 16 which likely accounted for most of the vehicles. The weather was sunny throughout the hike. About 80% of the lake is still covered in ice. Avalanche hazard is minimal as most of the cornices have already fallen. We did hear and observe a mini-avalance which did not progress to the bottom of the basin. The group arrived back to the parking lot at 1:20PM.
