Trip Report

Day Hike - Ira Spring Overlook

Early crisp a Fall Monday morning hike to the Ira Spring overlook with breathtaking views of Rainier and surrounding peaks.

  • Road rough but passable
  • It was a beautiful sunny but cold morning but only one very small patch of snow off the trail. Micro spikes weren’t needed as the trail was dry and free of ice and snow.

We met at the trailhead at 8:30 am on a Monday morning and there were only a couple of cars there (parking lot was mostly full when we returned at 12:40 pm). The unpaved road had many potholes so 4wd high clearance vehicles is advisable. We were on the trail for about exactly 4 hours (exact miles on my Gaia reading was 6.16 miles and 2084 ft elevation gain).

The weather was cool and partly cloudy with beautiful views of Mt. Rainier.
