Day hike Index Upper Town Wall Trail
Hiked the short steep trail to the top of the Upper Town Wall. Great views on a sunny winter day.

For a climbers' trail this is in pretty good shape. There were one or two spots where the trail was a little wet or icy but these were easy to get past. I hiked on a cold but sunny day and there had not been any rain in about two weeks, so the conditions were pretty good.
The trailhead is heavily used by climbers but was not busy on a cold winter Tuesday morning. I hiked to the top of the Upper Town Wall in about an hour. My GPS watch said it was 1.2 miles from the parking lot with 1500' of elevation gain. Great view of the town of Index and Gunn, Baring, Philadelphia, Index, Persis and other mountains.
