Day Hike - American Camp, Mount Finlayson & Cattle Point

This was a beautiful hike with really nice vistas on a sunny day. The second half of the hike was extremely windy, which made hiking difficult. Trails were well kept, and the elevation was for the most part mild to moderate.

  • THE FORECAST THE DAY BEFORE WAS FOR 90% CHANCE OF RAIN WITH HIGH WINDS. THE DAY TURNED OUT TO BE MOSTLY SUNNY AND THE FIRST HALF OF THE HIKE THE WINDS WERE VERY CALM. THERE WERE BEAUTIFUL VISTAS AND THE TRAIL ITSELF WAS FAIRLY EASY WITH A COUPLE OF REALLY STEEP SPOTS. Coming back from the lighthouse the winds kicked up quite a bit which made hiking difficult. Trekking pools are highly recommended. In order to get away from the wind, we hiked around the backside of the hill.
