CHS 2 Hike - West Tiger Mountain No. 3

CHS-2 early season hike up West Tiger 3 in the Issaquah Mountains

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Big parking area called "High Point Trailhead", you can enter it into Google and it will show you where it is. Start early, because this trail is one of the best local trails and it get's busy! Bring your Discovery Pass, bathrooms are close to the parking lot.

Just 14 miles from Bellevue and 20 miles from Seattle and you reach the Issaquah Mountains. What a wonderful "training ground" and just amazing nature so close to the big cities. Nine of us from the Conditioning Hiking Series (CHS) hiked up West Tiger 3 on this perfect spring morning. Because of the early start (7AM) the air was crisp and the parking plenty! The steady incline made us warm up fast! We enjoyed listening to some fresh streams, some peekaboo views to Lake Sammamish, fern gullies and the occasional bird. It took us 1 1/2 hours to reach the summit, we enjoyed our break with outstanding, clear views towards Seattle, Rainier and we thought we could even see the very top of Mt St Helens. It took us an hour down to the parking lot. The walk down is a bit treacherous in the beginning because of gravel. So watch out and go down slowly!

A great conditioning hike with great company and even better weather!
