CHS 2 Hike - Kachess–Domerie Loop

Counter-clockwise loop around the Kachess Domerie ridges.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The small dirt road to the trailhead is looking better than it has in past years. The trail itself is in pretty good shape. There are a few parts where you will have to go down some dusty washouts but it is manageable and there is no exposure.

Not sure why the description says to do this in a clockwise direction. That sets you up to descend the steepest and dustiest part of the trail later in the day when you are more tired. Going up that section early makes sense to me because it is easier to up that section (rather than down it). Also, you will pass your last chance for water about 1/3 of the way in which means you will do most of it with no opportunities to refill. Ended up with about 14.5 miles and 4800ft elevation gain.
