Trip Report

Big Craggy & West Craggy Peaks

This trip occurred on June 21 and 22. We hiked the Copper Glace trail to about 6150' just after the stream crossing. We then headed up the basin staying left to about 6600' near a small tarn and setup camp. The next morning we hike/scramble to the saddle between the two peaks and headed up the west ridge to Big Craggy. After enjoying the summit view we return to the saddle and traversed west about 7600’ passing various gullies and rock ribs to the broad gully. Then scramble of the snow/loose rock to ridge ~8000’ and crossed over to the west side and contour up to the summit. On the way down from West Craggy we reverse ourselves until we could drop into the drainage avoiding cliffs.
Very little snow most of the scrambling was on loose talus, boulders. Great weather, views, nice trip.
