Left cars at approximately 1850 elevation on road FR 2640. Possible you can drive higher, but we didn't check, opting for the extra exercise. Took a direct route through the woods with reasonable bushwhack conditions. Encountered snow at 4,500 ft. Continued on to scenic basin with a direct ascent to ridge climbers left of the large gendarme and then up ridge to summit. Took snowshoes and crampons but neither required under sunny warm skies. 4,200 ft of gain. Left cars at 8:00 Summit 12:45.
