Alpine Scramble - Dry Mountain (West Access)
The old road to the West Access trailhead is in very rough shape. Brush may scratch your car and you have to navigate steep deep ruts in the road. But if you brave the road it is a fun scramble with excellent views.

I volunteered my car for the drive in as it has pre-existing scratches and is high clearance. The road to the old West Access trailhead is in very rough shape. The brush has grown into the road and also the final section has very steep deep ruts that we had to straddle in our Subaru. Once you arrive at the old trailhead it is a good trail from here up to the Pass. There can be some muddy areas and we had to walk across a log over the creek. Once we reached the Pass we turned left through the trees and started the off trail portion. This involves some bushwhacking, steep meadows and eventually to the base of the rock scramble. A very short section of exposed Class 3 scrambling. Nice views from the top!!
