[In winter trips, summit may or may not be the destination, trip success is only possible if everyone participates in navigation and trail breaking. While leader permission is not required please self select based on required conditioning for this trip - Mount Si in under 1.45 hours]

The destination is The Pulpit , it will be a strenuous snow scramble, if we have unconsolidated snow a moderate scramble with a great ridge walk when there are views. There is also a 600 feet of tree'd section before we reach the summit, this will be some bushwhacking here, please come prepared to help with navigation. If the weather is bad and lots of rain in the forecast, we will alternate to do Mount Washington in the I-90 corridor for conditioning

This is a strenuous snow scramble considering the amount of mileage and also the open slopes with soft snow. Please only sign up, if you have experience breaking trail in deep snow (and would help break trail during this trip) and have MSR snowshoes If the forecast remains the same we might be lucky with only little snow and maybe some views. Please come layered with rain gear and gaiters. There will be a lot of snow along the way, so we'll need snowshoes at upper elevations and micro spikes in lower elevations.

Route we would follow here : https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/trip-reports/trip_report.2018-02-12.9327795349

Like in every early winter, the conditions are known to change depending on weather and the risks are high. Please come prepared to help navigate and take turns to break trail in fresh snow as encountered

To help self assess - if you can hike up 1400 feet or 1.5-2 miles an hour on snow free trail.

[Mountaineers trips are led by volunteer leaders, who want to share their enthusiasm for the outdoors, with others. On that note, last minute cancellations will be frowned upon]
