Winter Scramble - Dosewallips River Road Trail
[One day fallback due to log covered road conditions]. A remote winter scramble to a seldom visited ridge in the heart of the Olympics with sweeping views of Constance, Mystery, Deception and many more. This 2 day outing for vaccinated folks will overnight at Dose Forks Camp, then ascend the ridge towards Piros Spire to ~5200’ on Sunday before the descent and hike out. (9 miles/1600’ day one, 14 miles/4100’ day two).

With the continued decline of the Dosewallips River Road (and its extra 6.5 miles of road walking one way) this overnight winter scramble makes a 2 day trip to Piros Spire Spur quite reasonable. This trip will not ascend Piros Spire, and will only ascend the ridge leading from Dose Forks as high as reasonable for current snow conditions (hopefully to ~5200’):
