Whitewater Packraft - North Fork Nooksack River

Come explore the northernmost river in western WA, the North Fork of the Nooksack, as it winds its way through the Mt. Baker National Forest. An opportunity for both class II and class III boaters alike.

Details will be sent out once registration closes. 

There are two put in options.  For those wishing to run the class III rapids, we will put in at Douglas Fir Campground, making for about an 8.5 mi. stretch. 

Those wising to skip the class III section, may wait for the group at the put in below the canyon, at Gallop Creek in Glacier, from which point it is about a 6.5 mile stretch of class II to our take out. 

We will take out at Highway 542 Milepost 27, east of the town of Maple Falls.

  • Packraft with grab lines on bow and stern 
  • Packrafting sized paddle
  • Life jacket, PFD Class III or better 
  • Whitewater helmet 
  • Immersion wear appropriate for the environment
  • Spare clothing 
  • Boat repair kit 
  • Whistle 

Minimum Equipment for the party 

  • Rescue rope and throw bag, one or more
  • Spare paddle, one or more
  • First Aid kit
