The plan is to paddle in a clockwise direction following the coastline.  Locations with public restrooms include Sunnyside Ave N Boat Ramp (across from the Lake Union Hot Tubs), and the Gourmando Cafe at the Mohai (10am-6pm)

Note:  Boating and sea plane traffic can be a factor on this trip.  We’ll do our best to hug the coastline of Lake Union and will probably make only two short crossings (to and from Gas Works Park).  We’ll monitor the wind forecast and let you know if there is any change of plans.

Hazards:

  • Lake Union Ship Canal and Union Bay have significant power boat traffic.  Yield right-of-way to oncoming boats.  Do not attempt to cross in front of the bow of moving boats.
  • Powerboat speed testing area.  This is the only area on Lake Union where boats may exceed 7 knots for testing purposes.  Be aware of fast moving boats and avoid this area during busy days.
  • Be aware of floatplanes which regularly use Lake Union for landing/launching.

Meeting time is 10am.  We will launch at 11am so if you need more time to get your kit together please plan to come earlier than the 10am meeting time.

UPDATE: Meet at Sunnyside Ave N Boat Ramp!!! Address is 2301 N Northlake Way, Seattle, WA 98103. This is northeast of our initially planned put-in/take-out. Better parking options according to informed sources!
