Sea Kayak - Gig Harbor Triple Cross
Moderate paddle from Owen Beach. Crossings include the North End of The Narrows and Dalco Passage. Come explore Gig Harbor's piers, parks, and lighthouse. Bring lunch and snacks. We'll tag Vashon Island before crossing back to Tacoma. There will be an opportunity to practice rescues and/or rolling if there is interest.

Potentially dynamic water around Point Defiance on our way to Gig Harbor. Conditions will vary at each segment of this trip. Bring a short tow/tow belt and VHS radio if you have them. We'll take multiple breaks as needed throughout the day. Wear a hat, sunblock, and sunglasses. It's summer! Email trip leader if you have questions.
Meet at Owen Beach in Tacoma at 8 am. Parking is free, bring wheels if you have them. Boat & gear staged on the beach and dry suit on by 8:45 am for morning talk. Tide will be rising. Launch at 9 am. Expect to be back to Owen Beach at around 2 pm. or later if we stop to practice rescues/rolling.

Required Equipment
These eight essentials plus The Ten Essentials are required on all sea kayaking trips. All but the whistle and clothing should be provided with any kayak rental.
- Floatation in both ends of the kayak
- U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
- Paddle
- Spray skirt
- Bilge pump with floatation
- Self-rescue paddle float
- Waterproof whistle
- Appropriate clothing for the conditions encountered seasonally
