Prior to departure we will select a route consistent with wind, tide and current conditions, and skill level of paddlers.

There will be a high tide of 15.6 at 7:58, so if winds allow for a crossing, we may try to visit one of the small inlets accessible only at high tide.  Current in Dana Passage will be about 1.5 at launch time and dropping. We will launch in conditions up to the max stated above, including wind at a steady 12 kn.   Please monitor wind and weather in the days prior to the trip to assess whether conditions are consistent with your comfort zone.  

Meet at Boston Harbor boat launch in time for prompt 6pm launch.  Discover Pass required.  Bathroom facilities on site.

These eight essentials plus The Ten Essentials are required on all sea kayaking trips.  All but the whistle and clothing should be provided with any kayak rental.

  1. Floatation in both ends of the kayak
  2. U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
  3. Paddle
  4. Spray skirt
  5. Bilge pump with floatation
  6. Self-rescue paddle float
  7. Waterproof whistle
  8. Appropriate clothing for the conditions encountered seasonally
