We will pass through the Ballard Locks, out through Salmon Bay, and north to a stop at Golden Gardens Park or alternatively, depending on time and conditions, on to Carkeek Park, before retracing our route back through the locks. There are bathrooms at both Golden Gardens and Carkeek.
This trip is suitable for recent sea kayak course students and graduates. There will be a beach landing at Golden Gardens or Carkeek. Wind or passing boats may create waves that require basic bracing skills, and there is potential for turbulence in the locks; see information for transiting the locks provided by the locks operator (see the "non-motorized vessels" tab).
We expect to be back to the launch site by 6PM.
Be ready to launch at 1PM from the 14th St. boat launch in Ballard. There are no bathrooms at the launch, but bathrooms may be available for use at the nearby PCC store.
