Naturalist Trip - Green River Natural Resources Area

We'll meet at 9:00am at Van Doren's Landing Park's parking lot at 21901 Russell Rd, Kent, WA 98032 . This park is adjacent to the Green River Natural Resources Area (GRNRA).  Arrive a little early to use the restroom  and get ready to hike at 9 am.

General Membership Registration  Registration opens on May 10th at 7am.

We will bird while walking leisurely and stopping often for 3-4 miles along graveled trails for about 3-4 hours.   There are 4 viewing towers, one in Van Dornen's Landing overlooking the Green River and 3 viewing towers at GRNRA along the trails leading to the lake surrounded by wetland and woodland.  These are perfect habitats for waterfowl, woodland birds and raptors.  We'll walk and stop often to the  lakeshore,  through the wetland and woodland areas searching for and identifying mainly birds but other wildlife and flora of interest.  We'll make good use of the towers. You'll need your stair climbing legs.

There is a covered picnic area here after we explore the area west of the lake we will stop for a restroom break and snacks or lunch depending on time. We will check in to determine additional routes to explore or call it a day.
