Intermediate Snowshoe - Hex Mountain (winter)

Let’s go enjoy the fresh pow! This will be a scenic, casual-paced snowshoe trip near Ronald, WA with good elevation gain and hopefully some sunshine.

  • Mileage: 7.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,600 ft

This will be a moderately-paced snowshoe trip leaning towards conversational-paced so we  can enjoy the views; however, breaks will be kept short so no-one's toes get cold.  Hopefully we can enjoy lunch at or near the summit.

Those who sign up should have an adequate fitness level for the elevation gain.  We will not be racing up and down the mountain but just know that its a lot of mountain to snowshoe especially if we need to make a fresh track through the snow; therefore, it is best done not straight off of couch surfing.

If you are a graduate of Scrambling, Climbing, Intermediate Snowshoe, or you are a prior year Intermediate Snowshoeing student who has completed all field trips, you may sign up.  Current Intermediate Snowshoe students should not be signing up without the training provided in the course fieldtrip(s).

At the trailhead and parked by 0730am. This small parking area off the highway past Ronald, Washington gets quite busy especially on the weekends, so please be on-time.  Due to winter conditions, anticipate a slower drive over the pass and on the roads that lead to the trailhead.  Please carry WSP approved chains/socks in your vehicles. More details will be sent in an email by Friday evening.

A SnoPark Pass is apparently required for parking now.
