Mount Adams Ice Climbing Routes

Trip

Intermediate Alpine Climb - Mount Adams/North Lyman Glacier

two-day strenuous ice climb

  • Intermediate Ice Climb
  • Challenging
  • Elevation Gain: 7,700 ft
  • Pace: Moderate

Details to be discussed via email.

Will pick 2 good days out of 3.

First day, we'll get to camp at around 8200 or so on some rocks, right before stepping onto the Lava glacier. Second day we'll do the Lyman, top out, descend down the North Cleaver, pack the camp, and walk out (it will be a long day).

Must have graduated from Alpine Ice (or equivalent), be in good shape, and feel solid on ice. This is alleged to be an easy route, but one that is not climbed often, and the beta is somewhat scarce, which means the level of difficulty is somewhat unpredictable. Please describe your ice climbing experience when requesting the leader's permission.

As always, the date is tentative, pending weather, etc.

As this is a long and strenuous trip, the climb assumes we won't have just gone through another wave of COVID-19 or equivalent that effectively wipes everyone's level of conditioning out. We will have to reassess our level of conditioning and preparedness closer to the climb date.

Details to be discussed via email. Please feel free to reach out with questions.
