This part of The Wonderland Trail is the first on melt out. We will be able to enjoy part of this famous trail before the through hikers arrive. While only about 1500' of gain, the loss is about 3,400'. Here is the Gaia route: https://www.gaiagps.com/public/JkcxgKyMjw0cbIQefkRBjsEc
The leader will shuttle the drivers of the cars parked at Louise Lake back to their cars after the hike. Participation need to be in moderate condition and have done at least two previous hikes this season with one being over 1000' of gain. There could be small patches of snow on the upper parts of the trail. Trekking poles are advised. Thanks, Rob
This one-way trip requires a car shuttle and likely four cars total to accommodate 6-8 participants. We will meet at the main Longmire parking area--near the Museum at 9 AM and then shuttle one or two cars with all the participants up to the Louise Lake TH parking area.
Getting Therez: to the Longmire lot
Find your way to Highway 706 passing through the small towns of Elbe and Ashford. Drive east from Ashford to the Nisqually park entrance, where you’ll need either an annual National Park Pass, or to purchase a day pass.
Continue to Longmire and turn off at the Lodge and Museum parking lot.
National Parks pass or entrance fee required for each car entering the park.
