Deschutes River, Tumwater Falls and Capitol Lake. Fish ladders, historic brewery and early hydroelectric plant. Looking for an easy to moderate workout? An alternative to human hamster wheels? How about 2 miles or so, at under 2 miles per hour, gaining some elevation walking alongside rapids and waterfalls? Start from Tumwater Historical Park, and walk up the Deschutes River past Tumwater Falls to the fish hatchery, then down river and along Capitol Lake shore.

Leader is doing hikes at local parks of about 2 to 3 miles, averaging a little under 2 mph, carrying some water jugs in a pack for training weight, and invites you to join him.  We will start from Tumwater Historical Park, and walk up the Deschutes River alongside fish ladders, past Tumwater Falls to the fish hatchery, then down along the river, passing our starting point,  and along the Capitol Lake shore towards the Interpretive Center, and back, with views of the state Capitol dome, .   We'll try for a social pace, slow enough to talk but enough for some cardio conditioning. Hiking time one to two hours. We'll hike rain or shine.  We will mostly be on paved or gravel paths.  Some stairs next to falls may be wet and slippery. That part is optional.
