I plan on trying to do these every Tuesday in the winter.
As stated in the summary, these hikes will be kind of "what do I feel like this week" hikes. There are a number of trails on the north side of Tiger #3 that I like. I prefer to stay away from the crowds, so we won't be doing the Instagram routes. I take minimal breaks and rarely do clothing adjustments (Be Bold Start Cold), but I also am accommodating if needed (to a point).
We will be hiking at a brisk, fast conversational pace (I talk fast?). I move fast to stay warm.
Weather- if it is snowing, we ain't going (snow on the trail is ok, bring spikes). Other than that, the skies are the limit, literally. Ok, if there is a major downpour and things are totally miserable, I will probably stay home and look for Saturday adventures I haven't signed up for yet or post something myself.
Part of the reason I hike is to exercise the dog, so he will be accompanying me. He is very well trained and he will probably ignore everyone. If dogs on the trail or in your proximity bother you, I understand, so this might not be the hike for you.
BTW, we will NOT be doing Cable Line on any of these hikes.
- Headlamp/ Head torch required.
- Dress appropriately for the weather
- Bring spikes if there is snow on the trail
- Ten Essentials
- Optional* you can bring a treat to share (a good way to get me to stop and take a break, just saying).
[Mountaineers trips are led by volunteer leaders, who want to share their enthusiasm for the outdoors, with others. On that note, last-minute cancellations will be frowned upon, and are considered "bad form"]
That is pretty much it.
4:00 p.m.
We will be meeting at either the main High Point TH (large parking lot),
