Driving directions: From Seattle, drive I-90 to exit 32. Turn left onto 436th Ave SE. Follow 436th to its end at SE North Bend Way. Turn left. In three-tenths of a mile, turn right onto SE Mt. Si Road. Follow it 2.4 miles. Entrance to the trailhead will be on the left. Please note: lots of potholes on the road to the parking lot! A Discover Pass is required at trailhead (and don’t assume no one will check – the lot is patrolled regularly).

Brief hike description: The Talus Loop trail is Mt. Si's easier cousin, lacking the killer views but providing a good workout in a gorgeous forest with lots of conifers, ferns, and a few trickling water features. This time of year, the weather can be unpredictable, so please be prepared with layers for possible rain or snow. Although not required, if it is snowing, poles and/or micro spikes may prove to be helpful. Hike stats: approximately 4 miles, 1400' elevation gain. Expected pace: approximately 2.0mph.
