Day Hike - Scott Paul Trail & Park Butte

Join me for a trip to the Scott Paul Trail and Park Butte in beautiful Mt. Baker - a bucket list hike!

  • Moderate/Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 11.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,000 ft
  • Pace: 1.5-2.0

The Scott Paul Trail (8 miles) is an iconic loop hike. Hoping for berries, flowers and great views! This is my first time there, although I have eyed this route for several years.

If the group is up to it, we will add the out and back to Park Butte Lookout for an additional 3 miles round trip.  The vistas, according to WTA, are "breathtaking."

While we won't be breaking any speed records, this is a challenging trip. Hikers should have completed at least one hike of similar distance and elevation this summer and be in condition to complete the route successfully. I am a great fan of "beauty breaks" and we will take several along the way to enjoy what we have come to see.

Note that the suspension bridge is up and should be until the first snowfall.

The leader has reserved a nearby campsite for Sept. 7 and 8 if you wish to join me.

Meeting location TBD. Note that the road to the trailhead is passable, but not a joy. We will arrange to meet along Mt. Baker Lake Road advance. We will arrive at the trailhead by 8:30 AM.

Drivers must display a National Park or Northwest Forest Pass.
