This is an extensive trail system on mostly private timberland property. It is used by bicycles and horses but we will stick to trails where they typically do not go. We will start from the south end of the system and hike approximately 6 miles to Port Gamble. There are a couple options to buy lunch there, or bring your own. After about an hour we will return, possibly by a more direct trail, depending on time and interest. The terrain is mostly flat but there will be a few steep sections, both up and down. For a trail map, see http://www.northkitsaptrails.org/files/map_ORM.pdf.
Please note that the template for this hike says the length is 5 miles, but since this is a round trip, and we are taking a non-direct route, the total mileage will be about 12.
Stottlemeyer Trailhead on Stottlemeyer Road, just off 307. 10:00am. If anybody is coming from Seattle, I can pick up a few people at the Bainbridge Ferry at 9:30am (you would take the 8:55 from Seattle). Contact me if you want to do that.
