This is an exploratory hike. It will included, about 2 miles of gravel/dirt road walking, trail hiking, off-trail and/or boot-path hiking and a possible creek ford. Its raison d'etre is to visit The Grand Canyon of Fifteen Mile Creek. This is a lovely gorge with a great waterfall. The official gorge trail goes up the canyon only part way and beyond is a boot-path (muddy) that supposedly continues further up the canyon, connecting into Hobart-Middle Tiger Railroad Trail (our return trail). There is also a bridge out over the Fifteen Mile Creek. Many report being able to hop over the creek there on a log, but we may need to ford if the flow is high. It is possible that we can may have to adjust the route depending on conditions. Trekking poles are required. Fording shoes are optional. Microspikes may be required is if significant snow is determined to be on the upper elevation trails.

Due to its exploratory nature, this trip is Leader Permission Only. Please respond to the following questions:
1) I understand that this trip is exploratory and may necessitate a creek ford and includes about 0.75 miles of boot-path and/or off-trail travel up a wooded canyon. I am capable and into such a trip experience. Yes or No.
2) I am able to do a trip of about 11 miles and 4000' of gain. I have complete a trip of at least 10 miles and 3500' of gain within the last 4 months. Yes or No. Please list the hike.
This should be a unique trip and a chance to see a part of Tiger Mtn. that few ever visit. Rob
Meet at the Chirico TH at 8:30 AM Sunday. No parking pass needed.
