Day Hike - Oyster Dome

Shoulder season alternative to Tiger and I-90

  • Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 6.1 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,100 ft

Ash Way Park & Ride at 7:30am.

This trip is for everyone but is offered up for people who have been doing training around Tiger Mountain and the I-90 corridor during the off season and are seeking some variety while waiting for the high country to melt out.

Oyster Dome offers similar elevation gain to Tiger. The downside is a longer drive time from Seattle.  The upsides are views of the Sound and a bit of variety from the usual Tiger Mountain or Mt. Si routes.

For this trip we'll do a counterclockwise loop: Samish Overlook TH to North Butte  (2230') to Oyster Dome (2040') and back to Samish Overlook TH. Since we'll be so close, we will probably also do the short side trip to Lily Lake. According to Caltopo this will give us 6 miles and about 2100' of gain. The pace will be moderate.

This is  popular hike so we will get an early start to help avoid the crowds.

The road to the trailhead is rough, so if you have a high clearance vehicle please consider driving.  A Discover Pass is required.
