Starting from the trailhead, we will hike to Mount Sawyer, then lunch at Sawyer pass.  From there take the trail back to the trailhead for a total of 8 miles.

Tonga Ridge / Mount Sawyer — Washington Trails Association

We will go at a moderate pace (2 mph) with plenty of rest breaks as needed.  Bring lunch/snack and plenty of water and dress in layers.  Hiking poles and waterproof boots are strongly recommended.

For safety we will all hike as a group so please assess beforehand whether this distance/elevation gain/pace will suit you before registering.

My style:  I am adventurous, curious and love to be "awed" by Nature.  As a leader, I tend to the quieter side and my style is more relaxed.  While I love to hike, I am also willing to make space for picture-taking, flowers, critters, geology, culture and views along the way.   I value the journey as much as the destination and strive to foster hiking as a wholistic experience (body, soul, spirit).

We will meet at the Monroe Park and Ride at 10am to consolidate cars as there are limited spaces at the trailhead.

Note:  Leader will not be able to take people in car as she will be traveling on over Hwy 2 after the hike and not returning to Monroe.

No parking pass is needed at the trailhead

Trailhead directions: Head east on Hwy 2 toward Stevens Pass. Pass the town of Skykomish and the Skykomish Ranger Station east of town. Watch for the Foss River Road FS 68, and turn right. In 2.4 miles, cross under the railroad trestle and over a small bridge. In another mile will be a Y intersection; take a left here on FS 6830. The number is hard to see, but it will be on the right after you turn. Follow 6830 for 6.7 miles. Take the right fork on FS 310 (which is unmarked) and follow it to the end and trailhead in 1.3 miles. The trailhead parking allows space for about 10-12 cars, and there is a backcountry toilet just behind the trailhead sign on the right.
