Mount Sawyer & Tonga Ridge

A 6 mile day hike, snowshoe, or backcountry ski trip along an easy ridge with 1,200 feet of elevation gain. Enjoy the views of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, wildflowers in summer, and berries in the fall.

Getting There

Drive US-2 to 0.5 mile east of the Skykomish Ranger Station and turn right (south) onto Foss River Road (Forest Road 68). Drive 3 miles to the junction with Forest Road 6830, and turn left (east). Drive 3.3 miles to the top of the ridge and a junction with a small spur road, Forest Road 310. Turn right and continue to the snow line or the end of the road in 1.5 miles (4,400 ft).
