Trip
Day Hike - Mount Peak
Mt Peak also known as Pinnacle Peak or Mt Pete is a former cinder cone. We will hike to the new fire lookout from the South side up the trail, with anticipation of catching a view of Enumclaw and the surrounding foothills from the lookout. We will then make a descent down the North side view the columnar basalt formations and return back up to what is known as the "goat trail". Reaching the lookout again and back down to the parking lot.

Our second trip up from the North side will be steeper than the South side, gaining 1000 feet of elevation in a mile, a great workout guaranteed to get your heart rate up, and breathing hard, you need to be able to maintain a good pace for 30 to 45 minutes, with no or minimal stops along the way.
In addition to the items listed under the required gear tab, trekking poles will be very useful for the steeper sections of the trail. Shoes or boots with good traction will be needed.
****Microspikes may be required depending on the conditions. Please be prepared for ice and/or snow in the less exposed, higher areas at the peak.
Bring a lunch for our second trip to the summit. I estimate we will be back to the cars between 2-3 pm depending on how long we want to take photos at the lookout and read the interesting history markers recently added to the sights of interest.
