Day Hike - Marmot Pass & Buckhorn Mountain

Aiming for Buckhorn mountain southwest peak beyond Marmot Pass. Prior conditioning required, this will be a long day of hiking and "simple scrambling" near peak. Moderate to advanced hiking skills and conditioning expected. Will comply with all Mountaineer covid considerations.

  • Very Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 12.3 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,550 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 6,988 ft

Anticipated start time 7:30 am at trailhead, more info to follow.  Arrive at meeting place 10 minutes early and fully prepared.

Note as of this summer, the trailhead bathroom was closed, bring appropriate blue bag supplies in case closures remain.

Goals for trip:  conditioning at a high level for hikers already in good condition.  Sustained pace throughout the day with the ability to hike 14 miles and 4,000+ elevation.
