This is a mentored hike.

Margaret's Way is a well-established and popular trail.   It goes up the southwest side of Squak Mountain.  A short side trip from an upper trail junction will take us to an overlook featuring Mount Rainier on a clear day.  We'll take a break there, then turn around and retrace our steps to get back to the parking lot.

We'll hike rain or shine, so please be prepared with appropriate clothing and gear for fall hiking in the Northwest.   Trekking poles may be helpful especially if the trail is wet.

Expect to hike at a steady pace with occasional brief stops.  We will have a longer break at the viewpoint.  We'd like the group to stay within sight of each other, and to regroup at all trail intersections and stream crossings

From I-90, take exit 15 signed Lake Sammamish/Renton Highway 900. At the stoplight at the end of the exit turn right onto Highway 900/Renton-Issaquah Road and go south toward Renton. From the stoplight drive 3.2 miles and turn left at the easy-to-miss driveway with a large blue Cougar Mountain Recreation sign. The large parking lot is straight ahead.  There is a  toilet at the trailhead.

A parking pass in not needed.

Let's meet here at 8:30 am, and after introductions plan to start hiking no later than 8:45 am.
