Day Hike - Little Giant Pass

Day hike to Little Giant Pass to see the spectacular fall colors.

  • Very Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 10.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,000 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 6,400 ft
  • Pace: 2.0

Meeting time will be 8:30 am at the trailhead

After fording the Chiwawa River, we will hike up into some pretty incredible fall colors to our destination, a pass high on the ridge between the Chiwawa and Napeequa River valleys. We may continue up a path higher on the ridge. The views will be pretty dramatic, looking up the Napeequa Valley to the glacial hulk of Clark Mountain.

This is a strenuous consistent uphill hike with 4000 feet of elevation gain and several pretty steep sections. Please be able to hike at a steady 2 mph pace uphill with limited breaks, until we get into the fall color fields.  Then we will allow for plenty of time to take photos of the fall scenery along the way.

We will only do this hike if the weather is good to allow for good views. Otherwise, hike will be cancelled.
