Day Hike - Little Giant Pass

Stunning fall colors on a high ridge between the Napeequa and Chiwawa River valleys with dramatic views

  • Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 10.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,200 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 6,400 ft
  • Pace: 2 mph

After fording the Chiwawa River, we will hike up into some pretty incredible fall colors to our destination, a pass high on the ridge between the Chiwawa and Napeequa River valleys. We may continue up a path higher on the ridge. The views will be pretty dramatic, looking up the Napeequa Valley to the glacial hulk of Clark Mountain. We will allow for plenty of time to take photos of the fall scenery along the way.

This is a strenuous consistent uphill hike with 4000 feet of elevation gain and several pretty steep sections. Please be able to hike at a steady 2 mph pace uphill with limited breaks, until we get into the fall color fields.

We will only do this hike with minimal smoke to allow for good views and healthy hiking conditions. Otherwise, hike will be cancelled.

MUST have a face covering and hand sanitizer to participate on this hike!

Meeting time will be 8:00am at the Cole's Corner Shell Station: 15255 US-2, Leavenworth, WA 98826. Try to arrive 10-15 minutes early so we can be on our way to the trailhead by 8am.

Carpooling will not be organized by the leader for this trip, and will be at participants' discretion to organize individually.
