The first 3 miles of this hike is relatively flat with a gentle up grade. Not to worry there will be lots to see. This area is an old growth forest, where the trees are huge and the deer roam free. This part of the park has lots of greenery with woodpeckers getting their next meal from a snag tree. Even tree houses that are on the ground. About at the 3 mile mark we will turn right (south) and go up the hill towards green lake. At the 1.0 mark we will visit Ranger Falls, time for pictures. We will continue upward for .8 of a mile to Green Lake. Time for more pictures and a lunch snack. On this hike up the hill we will walk under about 4 trees that are above our heads, you won’t have to worry about hitting your head, unless you are really tall. Then there are 5 trees that are sculpted on the trail so that we don’t have to climb over them. You might want to bring your hiking sticks as there are exposed tree roots and rocks. This is not a race up the hill. We will have time to take picture and water breaks. After we are rested and refueled up we will head back to our cars. We should be back to the trailhead around 3pm. The forecast is for the mid 60’s with possible moments of rain. Dress accordingly!
Restrooms are located at the trailhead as well.
i will be driving a green Subaru Outback
If you drive to the trailhead you will need a National Park Pass.
Remember your TEN essentials
We will meet at the Wilkeson Town Hall parking lot located at 540 Church street, Wilkeson, WA at 8:30am. There are restrooms in the Wilkeson Town Hall parking lot. Then we will carpool to the Carbon River Trailhead. The hike should start after all of us meet up at the trailhead about 9:00am.
