Day Hike - Granite Mountain Trail

Hike to the Granite Mountain lookout for a fantastic view.

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,800 ft
  • Pace: 2.0-2.3 mph
  • 3 (6 capacity)
  • 1 (2 capacity)
  • Fri, Apr 24, 2026 at 2:58 PM
  • Sun, May 17, 2026 at 5:00 PM
  • Cancellation & Refund Policy
  • iCal Google

The pace is listed as 2.0-2.3 mph, but we will adjust to trail/snow conditions and a pace that allows conversations. Should the weather and or trail conditions work against us, we will discuss and agree to alternatives as a group. Other than personal bio-breaks, we will stay together as a group within speaking distance of one another. Our plan would be to spend no more than 15-20 minutes at the objective to rest, and enjoy a snack, prior to returning. Micro-spikes are mandatory.

If you do not have similar hiking experience with the Mountaineers I will need to see your last three hikes including pace, distance and elevation gain. One of them should be at least equal to this hike.

Take Exit 47 off of I-90, turn north and then west (left) onto Forest Road 9035, and continue 0.4 mile to the Pratt Lake Trailhead (1,900 ft).

We will meet at the Pratt Lake Trailhead sign next to the bathroom at 8:30am sharp for introductions, and we will begin hiking by 8:45am.

I will not be organizing carpools, so please connect with one another if you want to ride together.

A Discovery Pass is required.
