Trip
Day Hike - Desolation Peak
Join us for a unique hiking experience that starts the day early with a water taxi ride from Ross Lake Resort. Although a very strenuous hike with about 4000 feet of elevation gain, the views of the North Cascades, Ross Lake and into Canada are well worth the extra effort.

This trip is amazing, however it isn't offered often as there are costs for the water taxi and some logistical challenges....
Please note Leaders Permission is required prior to signing up for the trip. Please do not sign-up prior to asking permission through this website.
There is a cost for the water taxi, which will be shared equally among all participants. The capacity of the boat is 6 passengers; as such I've limited the participant capacity of this trip to 5. The cost of the water taxi is $360 (return-trip).
If we are a group of 6, the cost will be $60 per person. If there are only 4 of us, the cost will be $90 per person.
I will need to reserve the water taxi in advance of the trip date, and will need to pay in full prior to the trip start. If you're not sure you can commit to this trip, please do not request leader permission or sign-up.
Note the water taxi has a pre-scheduled pick-up time of 5:00 PM at the Desolation trailhead after our hike - this means we must be at the boat dock by 5:00PM, otherwise, we will be sleeping on the boat dock on Saturday night, and will not be picked up until Sunday at 5:00PM.
Participants must be fit and experienced. Once on the trail, water will be scarce to non-existent in this area - participants should expect to trek this route with 3-4 liters of water.
We'll meet at 7:30AM at the Ross Lake Resort. Additional details will be provided to participants by email prior to the trip departure date. I will spend the Friday night (July 4th) camped near the Ross Lake Resort. Note there may not be cell phone coverage at the Ross Lake Resort, or on the highway approaching the resort.
