From the trailhead, we'll follow the Bullitt Fireplace trail for just under a mile and then switch to the Chybinski trail, which crosses a couple of small streams on the way up the mountain. At about 2.2 miles we'll follow the short trail south to Debbie's View, and if the weather cooperates we'll take a short break to enjoy the view. Then we'll follow the West Peak trail up to the Bullitt Fireplace. We'll take a snack break at the Fireplace before heading back down via the Central Peak trail, West Access trail, and Coal Mine trail.

We'll be hiking at an average pace of about 2 mph, going a bit slower on steep uphills, and a bit faster on the gradual downhill sections.

We'll hike rain or shine (only a heavy downpour or other heavy weather will cancel), so please be prepared with appropriate clothing and gear for winter hiking in the Northwest. Expect wet leaves and mud on the trail, and there may be some water over the trail in places. Hiking poles are recommended.

We'll meet at the Mountainside trailhead on the North side of Squak Mountain at 8:30am, and be ready to hike at 8:45am.

Discover Pass required.

Driving directions from WTA (https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/bullitt-fireplace):

From I-90 (Exit 17) in Issaquah, head south on Front Street through the picturesque old part of town. At the traffic light at Sunset Way, turn right. In 0.2 miles cross SE Newport Way, then bear left onto Mountain Park Blvd SW. This street changes direction abruptly several times. In about 0.7 miles bear left onto Mountainside Dr SW. In about 0.3 miles, where the street makes a very sharp turn to the left, pull into the small parking area on the right. There is room for about six cars here. As of summer 2017 both shoulders of Mountainside Dr are being widened, and this may provide additional parking options.

Carpooling is encouraged! The shoulder has been widened since the WTA wrote those directions, so there is room for another 8-10 cars on the shoulder near the trailhead, but it can fill up on a nice day.
