Cross-country Ski - Snoqualmie Pass Nordic Center

We will take the Silver Fir Chairlift and explore some of the upper trails of the Summit Nordic Trail System including the Mount Catherine Loop.

Preston Park & Ride, I-90 Exit 22. Be ready to depart at 8:45 am.

Full directions will be sent to those who register 2 days ahead of the trip.

This trip is classified as N3 and is restricted to more experienced Nordic skiers who are able to manage steeper climbs and descents as well a ride a chairlift.

We will drive to the Silver Fir Lodge/Outpost at Summit Central and take the Silver Fir chairlift to the top. From there we will be explore some of the upper trails and then ski round the Mt. Catherine Loop back down to the lodge via Ripsaw, Olallie Meadows, Windy Pass, Cold Creek Trail and Crossover. The trails we will use involve some quite strenuous climbs and steep descents. Good herringbone climbing and downhill wedge braking and turning are a must.  You must also have a good level of fitness and stamina and be willing to take a chairlift using your Nordic skis and carrying a backpack. Please contact the trip leader if you are unsure whether you meet these requirements. Either classic non-wax skis or skate skis are required.

TRAILS PASSES AND EQUIPMENT RENTAL This trip will involve buying a Summit Nordic trail day pass for $20 ($2 reduction for seniors 62 years and over and free for 70 and above). The pass includes use of the chairlift. You may carpool from Preston P&R; meeting at 8:45 am or meet us at the Silver Fir Lodge/Outpost at 9:30 am. Directions and other trip details will be provided several days prior to the trip.
